PROBLEM DIAGNOSIS POSSIBLE SOLUTION
P The
computer
or software
will not
recognize
the
modem.
D Your modem
might not be
turned on.
D You may have a
COM/IRQ
conflict.
D You might not be
entering modem
commands in the
proper manner.
D You may need to
reset your COM
and IRQ settings.
D If using an
external modem,
the COM port
may not be
enabled.
1 Make sure the modem is
turned on. The power
switch is on top of
external modems. The
CS light on the front
panel should be lit.
1 Check to make sure you
have the correct COM
port and IRQ settings in
your software and/or in
the Windows Control
Panel.
1 Type in all upper (AT) or
lower (at) case.

1 Refer to your computer’s
manual for information
concerning enabling
COM ports (usually
involves altering the bios
settings or motherboard
